Pillar Seven: Return to Purpose

Inspirational quote about purpose with a woman walking through a garden gate at sunset.

Pillar Seven

Return to Purpose

Purpose is how we share who we have become.

What is Return to Purpose?

Many of us spend years searching for our purpose.

As though it is something waiting to be found somewhere outside ourselves.

A career.

A title.

A destination.

A single calling.

But perhaps purpose has never been something we discover.

Perhaps it is something we uncover.

As we return to ourselves...

As we nourish our bodies...

As we build strength...

As we create stillness...

As awareness grows...

As reflection becomes wisdom...

As our relationships become healthier...

Something beautiful begins to happen.

We naturally begin living from a place of authenticity.

And that is where purpose quietly emerges.

Purpose is not about doing more.

Purpose is about becoming more fully yourself.

Because the world doesn't need another version of someone else.

It needs the gift that only you can offer.

Why Does This Matter?

For much of my life, I believed purpose was measured by what I achieved.

How much I gave.

How many people I helped.

How hard I worked.

Yet some of the most meaningful moments of my life were never achievements at all.

They were conversations.

Quiet acts of kindness.

Holding someone's hand.

Listening without judgement.

Being fully present.

The greatest shift came when I stopped asking,

"What should I do with my life?"

And started asking,

"Who am I becoming?"

Because who we become influences everything we do.

Purpose is not something we perform.

It is something we embody.

The Science Behind Purpose

A growing body of research suggests that having a sense of meaning and purpose is associated with greater psychological wellbeing, resilience and life satisfaction. People who feel connected to something larger than themselves often demonstrate greater persistence during adversity and may experience benefits for emotional and physical health.

Purpose doesn't eliminate difficulty.

It changes the way we move through it.

When our actions are aligned with our values, everyday choices become more intentional.

Purpose becomes less about achievement.

And more about contribution.

Purpose Is Lived, Not Found

Purpose is rarely revealed all at once.

It unfolds.

It evolves.

It changes as we do.

Sometimes your purpose is raising children.

Sometimes it is healing.

Sometimes it is creating.

Sometimes it is caring for someone you love.

Sometimes it is learning.

Sometimes it is resting.

Sometimes your purpose is simply becoming the healthiest version of yourself.

There are seasons for everything.

Purpose honours them all.

How Return to Purpose Connects to Every Other Pillar

Purpose cannot exist without Self.

Without knowing who we are, we risk living someone else's life.

Purpose cannot flourish without Nourishment.

Our bodies need energy to sustain the work we are called to do.

Purpose requires Strength.

Not only physical strength.

But courage.

Resilience.

And trust.

Purpose deepens through Stillness.

Because stillness helps us hear what truly matters.

Purpose grows through Reflection.

Because wisdom helps us recognise where life is leading us.

Purpose expands through Connection.

Because our gifts are rarely meant to remain only with us.

Every pillar prepares us for purpose.

And purpose gives every pillar expression.

Living This Every Day

Purpose isn't reserved for extraordinary moments.

It lives in ordinary ones.

Preparing a nourishing meal.

Holding a difficult conversation with honesty.

Choosing kindness.

Being present with your family.

Creating something beautiful.

Sharing your knowledge.

Planting a garden.

Helping a neighbour.

Smiling at a stranger.

Writing words that help another woman feel less alone.

Purpose isn't measured by recognition.

It is measured by the love, integrity and presence we bring to whatever we do.

When This Pillar Is Out of Balance

You may have drifted away from purpose if you...

Feel disconnected from what truly matters.

Chase achievement but rarely feel fulfilled.

Compare your journey with everyone else's.

Believe your value depends on productivity.

Wait for the "perfect time" to begin.

Feel as though life is happening without intention.

Purpose isn't asking you to become someone else.

It is gently inviting you to become more fully yourself.

Returning to Purpose

Purpose begins with one simple question.

Not...

"What should I do?"

But...

"How can I live more fully in alignment with who I am becoming?"

Every answer to that question becomes another step on your journey.

Not towards perfection.

But towards authenticity.

Reflection

Spend some time with these questions.

What gives my life meaning?

When do I feel most alive?

What gifts do I naturally bring to others?

What values guide the way I want to live?

How has my journey prepared me to help someone else?

What small act of purpose can I live today?

Gentle Practice

Today, do one thing that reflects the woman you are becoming.

Not because anyone will notice.

Not because it earns recognition.

But because it aligns with your values.

At the end of the day ask yourself:

"Did I live in a way that felt true to who I am?"

If the answer is yes...

You have already lived your purpose today

Welcome Home

Return to Self was never created as a program to complete.

It was created as a way of living.

A framework you can return to in every season of your life.

Whenever life feels uncertain...

Return to yourself.

Whenever you feel depleted...

Return to nourishment.

Whenever you feel fragile...

Return to strength.

Whenever life becomes noisy...

Return to stillness.

Whenever you need understanding...

Return to reflection.

Whenever you feel alone...

Return to connection.

Whenever you lose sight of what matters...

Return to purpose.

And when life changes again...

Begin once more.

Because healing isn't a straight line.

Growth isn't measured by how quickly we move forward.

It is measured by our willingness to keep coming home.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Welcome home.

Return to Self isn't about becoming someone new.
It's about remembering, again and again, the woman you have always been.
